"It's a very difficult era in which to be a person, just a real actual person, instead of a collection of personality traits selected from an endless automat of characters."

Gone Girl is a psychological film released on September 2014, directed by David Fincher. This movie was adapted from Gillian Flynn's 2012 novel of the same title. The movie's running time is 149 minutes. Its DVD release was started in January 2015.

Main Cast:

Ben Affleck as Nick Dunne
Rosemund Pike as Amy Elliott-Dunne, Nick's missing wife
Carrie Coon as Margo Dunne, Nick's sister
Emily Ratajkowski as Andie Fitzgerald, Nick's mistress
Neil Patrick Harris as Desi Collings, Amy's ex-boyfriend
Kim Dickens as Detective Rhonda Boney, the Lead Investigator

Plot:

On the day of their fifth wedding anniversary, Nick Dunne found out that his wife, Amy, is missing. Her disappearance had become media frenzy since Amy is known to be the daughter of famous couple authors. Many speculations say that Nick murdered his wife. This accusation was believed by many when Nick's action became so strange and unpredictable. In the eyes of the people, Nick was a sociopath.

Everybody didn't know that Nick and Amy's marriage is starting to fall apart. Nick became uninterested, to the point that he cheated on Amy.  As Detective Boney searched for every evidence she can use against Nick, she was able to uncover some secrets such as a positive pregnancy test of Amy, in which Nick was not aware of.

But the truth is, Amy is really framing Nick up. After she found out that Nick was seeing another girl, she planned a revenge for her husband. She set up evidences that will pin point Nick, and make it look like he really killed her wife. She went away from the city, changed her look and identity. Unfortunately, she was robbed by her new neighbors. As she was left with nothing, Amy called her ex-boyfriend, Desi, to rescue her. Unknown to Desi, Amy was just using him. Amy made herself look as if Desi abused and kidnapped her. She seduced Desi then killed him.

Amy went back to Nick, covered in blood. She told that Desi abused her and she can't take it that Nick was taking all the responsibility and the blame for her disappearance. But Nick refused to believe her. He even wanted for them to get separated. But Amy said that she was pregnant with him. Though Nick really wanted to leave Amy, he felt that he is still responsible for the child.

In the end, they announced that they're rebuilding their marriage, and at the same time, they are expecting a baby.

Gone Girl is a good representation of how an obsessive love can destroy a relationship. It is a nightmare of real emotions, that when released all t the same time, will turn into a chaos. In the case of Amy and Nick, Amy became afraid of losing her husband. But her anger feed on her. She became overwhelmed of the fact that Nick doesn't love her anymore. This feeling of hers became the fuel to her burning desire to take revenge.

This movie will challenge your minds to think beyond the box. As I see it, Amy was the real psychopath here. Nick was just a victim of an obsessive love.

Overall, I recommend this movie to give you a look on the other side of love.

"Love makes you want a better man- right. But maybe love, real love also gives you permission to just be the man you are."
